Mac Studio’s SSD Upgradable? Not So Fast!

The Mac Studio is upgradable! Yes! According to the YouTube Channel Max Tech, the Mac Studio's SSD storage is upgradable. The guys in their video took apart a Mac Studio and discovered that the SSD wasn't soldered to the motherboard. Witnessing the teardown and observing the possibilities of upgrading the SSD provided some hope after all. But another YouTuber, Luke Miani, shattered those dreams in his latest video.

Luke conducted the same tear down in his video, two Mac Studios, and tried to take the SSD from one and install it in the other. Well, the software wouldn't accept the switch. Luke tried several different ways to conduct the switch but to no avail. Luke took to his Twitter account to express how ridiculous and disappointed Apple's reluctance not to allow consumers to install their own SSD. Apple is notorious for keeping its products tamper-free. What you see is what you get.

But what a minute. Joe Rossignol of Mac Rumors took to Twitter to report that he can confirm that Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers will be able to replace SSDs in a Mac Studio if necessary. This bit of news could drive a few more sales of the product. The back and forth of this particular topic is nerve reckoning. With that said, there is hope after all.
